Candidate Login | Register View all Jobs  |  Apply Now  |   Email This Listing |  Sign Up for Job Alerts |  Back VoIP Switch Platform Architect JOB DESCRIPTION: This position is responsible for the strategic architectural analysis, design and top level support of all Telephony Switching and Voicemail platforms supporting Telephony Services. Working closely with the network engineering team and equipment vendors, the position will be responsible for the design, implementation and Voice over IP related support for company’s end to end telephony process. Additional duties required are: • Technical Review and oversight of network/switching/voicemail platforms. • Design, documentation, sizing and provisioning requirements for ILEC (Incumbent Local Exchange Carrier) interconnected tandem switching complex, and additional VoIP equipment required for an end to end telephony infrastructure build out. • Establish and maintain procedures for dial plan implementation, including Transactional Capabilities Application Part (TCAP) services (Local Number Portability (LNP) and Caller ID with Name (CNAM)), operator and directory assistance services and Communications Assistance to Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) configuration required to work with the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN). • Ensure systems are properly documented, controlled for change, and monitored for uptime and performance by Network Operation Center (NOC) personnel. • Plan, document, test, and implement disaster recovery models at all levels of company’s end to end Telephony network. • Work closely with business partners, network engineering, and VoIP vendors to design future VoIP services and provide strategic and architectural issue resolution within the VoIP switching platform. • Analysis and resolution of escalating troubles/issues from Operational Network Operating Center (NOC) support personnel. • Off hours on-call problem and build-out/upgrade support will be required. QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: • Minimum five years experience designing switch platforms including, Softswitch equipment, media gateways, Voicemail/Unified/Integrated Messaging Systems (IMS), Session Border Controllers (SBC) and Class 4/5 switching hardware and software. • Expertise with IP, Internet routing protocols, SONET, and voice technologies (SS7/C7, SIP, ISDN). • Ability to quickly assess situations regarding business requirements and the use of technology to assist in the end to end Telephony design and deployment process. • Strong understanding of CLEC engineering processes/practices and their operations within the telecom marketplace. • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to communicate complex issues effectively through written and oral communication to internal and vendor personnel. • Experience creating system support documentation including network and equipment interface design, provisioning guidelines, test plans, and functional process flows. • Qualified candidates should have a Bachelors degree (BA, BS) preferably in Telecommunications/Network Engineering or a related field.
